Here at Motoquipe, we have 3 different types of waterproof materials used to make seat covers. Each have their pros and cons and may be suitable for different types of drivers.
Canvas
Canvas seat covers are our most popular type of waterproof seat cover. These are extremely rugged and are perfect for the tradesman. The canvas material is rough by nature so are the least comfortable of the 3 waterproof materials. The most durable of all seat covers,these are perfect for the drivers who carry dirty passenger and cargo. The canvas material is also machine washable.
A large range of premade custom seat covers are available in canvas for many 4WD's and trade vehicles.

Leather Look
Leather look or vinyl seat covers give your interior a luxurious look and feel, whilst keeping the waterproof features. These are very popular for taxi drivers, and add a level of class to the interior of the taxi, but also protects the seats from the thousands of passengers they would have each year.
Vinyl seat covers are also popular with young families who want to protect their seats from their children, but also want to keep their car interior looking classy. These seat covers are not as durable as canvas, and can scratch easily, so are not ideal for tradesmen.
The leather look also, keeps water on the surface of the seat covers so is not very comfortable for beach goers and swimmers.
Being made of vinyl, the seat covers have a tendency to get very hot in summer, and very cold in winter so are not as comfortable as the neoprene seat covers.

Neoprene
Neoprene is a high tech material, used to make wetsuits. The material is not 100% waterproof, but is highly water resistant. The neoprene will absorb some of the water, but keep your original seats dry.
These are perfect for surfers and beach goers as they are the most comfortable material to sit on, especially when wet. The Neoprene is not as rugged as the canvas so would not be as suitable for trades people as the canvas.
Neoprene seat covers however, are the most comfortable of all the waterproof seat covers. The material is soft and foamy and very comfortable to sit on for long periods.
Neoprene seat covers are machine washable.
